The Need
It is estimated there are currently 143,000,000 orphans around the world. Of these, approximately 120,000 children are adopted annually into American homes; however, it is estimated that less than 10,000 children each year are adopted into evangelical Christian homes in America.
The financial cost of adoption is commonly $25,000 or more. This seems ‘financially impossible’ to most Christians who feel a calling to adopt - which results in leaving thousands of orphan children without loving parents. By helping to reduce that barrier we are helping to rescue those children who are trapped in the cycle of orphan life.
Strategic Solutions: Matching Grants & Interest-Free Loans
Adoption is our ultimate goal in caring for orphan children as it enables them to become a part of God’s perfect plan…a family.
The Linked By Love Adoption Fund will help break down this barrier by offering Matching Grants and Interest-Free loans to Christians in the Central Indiana region who are adopting internationally or domestically.
Offer Matching Grants from $1,000-$4,000 to help bring a child into a Christian family
Mobilize the Body of Christ (church, family, and friends) to come alongside believers who have been called by God to adopt one or more orphans into their family. The benefits are:
*Key Strategy - mobilizes the Body of Christ and leverages funds to help bridge the financial gap.
Interest-Free Loans - Creating Sustainability
- Interest-free loans are a tool to help Christians overcome the initial ‘cash flow crunch’ of adoption expenses
- Christians enter into a covenant agreement to repay the loan through manageable monthly or annual payments.
*Key Strategy - Funds become ‘self-perpetuating’ - where the loan repayments each month can begin to meet the current needs of new adopting families.
Prior Track Record
(based on Lifesong for Orphans activity – over 650 adoptions nationwide)
Funded the adoptions of 22 orphan children (in the state of Indiana alone) to become adopted into Christian families through these innovative funding tools:
- Gifted $43,110 as Matching Grants - which mobilized an additional $77,681 in donations on behalf of adopted children
- Gifted $10,000 as Interest-Free Loans (100% on time repayment to date)
- TOTAL DISTRIBUTED: $130,791
Inviting You!…Return on Investment (ROI)
Goal: Launch the Linked by Love Adoption Fund with an initial $80,000 which has potential to help fund 13 adoptions in the first year.
- $14,000 will fund Adoption Matching Grants to help 7 orphans become adopted (on average)
- $66,000 will provide an Adoption Interest-Free Loan for 6 adoptions now + will fund 2 additional adoptions every year thereafter (on average)
Innovative (and tax-smart) Ways To Give
A ministry partner is covering all of Lifesong’s administrative costs to allow 100% of your donation to go directly to adoption grants/loans (no portion of your donation will be applied to Lifesong’s admin costs)!
The simplest way to contribute to the Linked By Love Adoption Fund is to donate cash, checks, or stocks.
However, an innovative and tax-smart way to give is to donate appreciated, non-liquid assets.
Lifesong can help receive, manage, and liquidate these types of assets, and placing the net proceeds into the Linked By Love Adoption Fund. We can accept most any type of asset, including:
- Real estate - land, houses, or other properties
- Business interests - ownership in closely-held businesses, Limited Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies, or Sub-chapter S corporations
- Estate gifts - proceeds from wills, trusts, or life insurance policies
- Retirement plans - 401Ks, IRAs, or pension plans
